Iago And Honesty In Othello
Words: 1114 - Pages: 5.... doubt in Othello’s mind. The word is also used by Iago in the action line. His objective is constantly to make Othello think things without actually being told them, and Iago’s parroting of the word and constant useage do this quite nicely.
Iago initially uses the word honest to mean honourable, in reference to Cassio. Othello has asked him if “he [Cassio] is not honest?” To which Iago parrots back “Honest my lord?” This usage is constant with what Othello means, whether Cassio is honourable or not. However, Iago uses the word to cast doubt on Othello. By parroting it back, he is making it seem to Othello that he does not .....

Hamlet: The Theme Of Having A Clear Conscience
Words: 727 - Pages: 3.... his
conscience and then act upon these feelings. Hamlet's several soliloquies are a
testament to this method. His first soliloquy, following a conversation with
his recently wed mother and uncle reflect the uneasiness he feels. He feels
betrayed. "O, most wicked speed, to post, with such dexterity to incestuous
sheets. . . but break my heart, for I must hold my tounge." (I, ii, 156-159).
Hamlet's conscience tells him what is wrong-in this case, the hasty marriage-but
he is ambivalent as to how to approach it; before he meets the ghost, silence is
his method. When Hamlet meets his father's ghost however, he feels sure of
himself, and k .....

The Media
Words: 452 - Pages: 2.... another country
to find some story on miserable people. If I was in some tribe in Africa
or something I would not want anyone bothering me by putting a camera in
my face. I would want the money to buy food, but if someone over in
America just needed my story for filler, I wouldn't be too happy.
It should be the tribe's leader that should have to get the tribe
out of trouble in any way that he could. It is not our business to send
them our money to get food for the people that got themselves into trouble,
but I think it makes people feel good to donate things to needy people. I
just think that the media isn't telling people the whole story .....

Macbeth begins talking to evil spirits. Because women often lack the
ruthlessness to kill someone, Lady Macbeth asks the spirits to make her male.

convinces Macbeth to commit the murders that will make them king and queen.

Heroism In The Perfect Storm
Words: 626 - Pages: 3.... they have earned the title of “hero.”
The pararescue jumpers and pilots, our heroes in The Perfect Storm, had a responsibility to the well being of everyone at sea. When a distress call was made, it was their duty to answer it to the best of their ability. It seemed “to the best of their ability” meant do the job until they died trying. These men had undergone extensive training in their fields to prepare for such situations as the perfect storm presented them. The PJ’s had undergone a highly selective process that many Navy SEALS could not complete. And the pilots of the helicopters and jets showed tremendous skill .....

King Lear: Treachery And Deceit
Words: 488 - Pages: 2.... to gain more. He writes another letter. This one is similar to the first, except instead of implicating his brother to his father, it implicates his father in a plot with France to kill The Duke of Cornwall. The King decides that Gloucester's supposed treachery cannot be tolerated and orders that his eyes be torn out. At this point, Edmund seems to be unequivocally evil. This is undoubtedly false.
Two of the other characters of the play, Goneril and Regan surely equal Edmund's ferocity in their quest for power. Our first glimpse at the two surely begins to prove that fact. In this scene, the King asks that each of his three daughters .....

ruthless in getting payments for money owed. "Three thousand ducats. 'Tis a
good round sum./ Tree months from twelve, then let me see, the /rate--"
(1.3.112-114). Upon this Bassanio asks Shylock if he will really owe him any
interest; Shylock reacts as almost offended, and further explains that Bassanio
will indeed owe him interest. For both Macbeth and Shyl .....
